RCES and Pattaya 2 School say “Good-bye” to Maria and Anna Barankow
|
On the 3rd. September 2008 the RCES sponsored language teachers to the Pattaya 2 School in Banglamung/Pattaya bade fare-well to two young German ladies who volunteered teaching the English Language to Primary and Secondary grades students.
Present from the RCES were IPP and ADG Steve Ryser, Carl Dyson and Ferenc Fricsay. Also present were the top brass of the school Khun Kasem Chimchiew, Director of the Pattaya School no. 2 and Khun Wannapa Wannasri Chief Educational Supervisor for the City of Pattaya.
In the words of Maria: “Teaching methods here are much different from those practiced back home. With plenty of discretion we managed to convince that our training methods will bring better progress in both the written and spoken language.”
“The fundamental difference was that we tried to teach independent skills to be applied students who work rather as an entire class echoing the words or sentences in Unisom”, Anna added. “We also tried to instill more impendent thinking, have own initiative and to work in small think-tank groups”, both guest teachers agreed. They both were also in concert that it took about a week to get used to the rather different cultures, which for was “exotic” as much to the German guests teachers as it was to the Thais.
In front of all the school congregated for the daily Morning Salute to His Majesty the King and Thailand and a short prayer; Khun Wannapa Wannasri thanked the two guest teachers Maria and Anna for their undivided efforts and how much it was appreciated, not just by the 1’500 students, but the entire teaching team of the Pattaya 2 School .
In closing, Maria and Anna were presented a Diploma for their hard work by the Municipality of Pattaya, handed over by Khun Wannapa Wannasri The RCES gifted two Mother of Pearl inlayed jewelry boxes and a Credential to both certifying a work truly well carried out and making, us RCES, the main sponsors proud of your both accomplishments.
Maria and Anna whilst in Pattaya were housed with Steve and delivered every day to fulfill their duties at the school since the 19th July. The young ladies are full of new experiences in and off the job. They went sightseeing, saw landmark destinations in and around Pattaya, even infamous “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (Kanchanaburi) and out-lying island Koh Larn. Six days a week they thought virtually from scratch the English language to all grades.
Dr Rinck, who had a hand in finding the two Students from Germany together with the RCES extend our two young Lady Guests all the continued success, fun and wellbeing in the choice of your future vocations and would certainly welcome you back to our shores.
