Fellowship Party July 15, 2008

Fellowship Party together with the RC Bergheim/Erft from Germany at Marriott Resort & Spa

RCES P Toy Ryser opened the Fellowship Dinner at the Marriott Resort & Spa with a gong beat followed by the National Anthem.
IPP and ADG Stefan Ryser acted as the MC for the night and responded on behalf of the RCES all speeches and gave the present position of our Club and how much we welcomed the opportunity to host the first overseas visiting RC amongst our ranks.

Pointing to past and future the RCB/E P Horst Grabbe found the appropriate words of encouragement looking into the future to the co-operation between the Clubs. Horst knows that his Club will work with optimism and dedication to help where help will be needed, not just at home, but also support the RCES in every feasible aspect of a Sister-Club arrangement. The RC B/E CHP Thomas Odenthal gave a short background and history of his Club, the geographical location it is surrounded with, rich in history, the art and of course culture (castles, the extraordinary cathedral of Cologne, the wonderful wines grown in the area, not forgetting the carnival periods which is abundantly celebrated in the region.

In turn the RCES, through Steve gave an account of their activities here in Pattaya and in the direct neighborhood and further away east of Pattaya. He further praised and thanked the RC Bergheim/Erft for the splendid support the Club receives in support and cash, and last but not least knowing that the RCES has mind like thinking associates in such far distance. He also pointed out the invaluable help we get from our Member Dr Claus Rink, who helped not only in the built up of this visit, but through his undivided attention is the “God-father” and initiator to launch the Language CD project to facilitate the teaching of English in Thai Schools.

The joint meeting also welcomed 4 Students from Germany who, in the Rayong region will teach together with the Thai English Teachers School kids in 2 different schools and on different class levels over a period of two month, during their summer leave in Germany. These four students are a direct joint-sponsorship of the RCB/E and the Marriott Resort & Spa Pattaya.

After the sumptuous Buffet Dinner, a splendid folklore dance performance by the Girls school from Rayong was the cultural “piece de resistance”; followed by the introductions, speeches and eventual closing of Rotary Dinner and signing by the two Presidents Toy and Horst the Sister-club Declaration with the Royal Anthem many members from both Clubs remained behind for small talk and exchange of views and opinions.
