The two Presidents, Steve Ryser (RCES) and Jan Abbink (RCJP) gave eloquent farewell speeches highlighting both their clubs contributions in community farewell work and other deeds over the past 12 month; indeed not just large projects (MGs’ and other Charity Work), but often considering how unaccounted genuine hardship of small families can find relieve and as such are funded by private sponsors or from Club funds on regular bases.
Both Clubs worked hand in hand on School Water Filtration Projects over the past 12 month and will do so on the MG - Water Filtration Projects for 21 Schools to follow in the coming Rotary year. These will provide school kids with potable water and does not serve the schools alone, but often the elderly, sick and destitute are able to obtain the precious wet without running health risks, e.g. Hepatitis and many more threatening diseases.
Their recommendations also carry commitments to further MG - English language tutorage for Thai students through a well produced Concept DVD by Rotarian Dr Claus Rink (RCES) Already over 25 schools and their students are the beneficiaries of MGs together with RC Bergheim / Germany. Additional schools are in the pipe-line over the next 12 month. This will bring the English language closer to youngsters at the same time improving the teaching skills of the English Language Teachers.
Yes, indeed the speeches of the two Presidents were a fair and correct reflection of the past year.
The Incoming Presidents Toy Ryser (RCES) and Brendan Kelly (RCJP) equally positive about the future gave their views where improvements will be possible and objectives positively directed to. There was also talk about the economy, with predictions and outlook for the forthcoming years being gloom, but with the funds already in place and generated by the hardworking team of the Presidents, both Clubs can look to a promising future.
The evening was divided essentially in to two parts; say, the first half taking care of the routine “Rotary Business” with a prelude of classic musical interaction by the 15 year old Thai-Japanese violinist Anna Sowanna Takeda, a music student at the Musical University in Tokyo and a protégé of the Hungarian violin virtuoso Vilmos Olah. In the first and second piece by Bach and Wiesnewski she demonstrated her quite outstanding instrumental talent with virtuosi bravura and thorough musical interpretation feelings. For the final Sarasate composition for two violins and to the delight of audience assembled, Vilmos joined Anna on stage .
For the second half the Presidents decided to engage a most talented and appealing Pilipino Lady Singer with her supporting band to provide the “Fellowship” gathering, dance, fun, entertainment and above all the genuine feeling to all present – “I am glad I made it to the Installation Night 2008 of the RCES and RCJP.
