Jesters Fair September 2008

Charity Drive by the Jesters Children’s Fair 2008

How can anybody be disappointed? This is the fun-fair for the kids, a day of play, snacks, games, making new friends or combinations there off, plus those who took a challenge of sporting prowess.

The Regent School students did a magnificent job with their persuasive lottery ticket sales. There were food stands offering a wide range of Western and Asian foods stuffs. The volunteer vendors at the stands were positive, involved, sporting broad smiles trying to extract pretty free flowing “pennies” from the fair visitors for toys, second hand books, plastic entertainment gadgets, drinks, handicrafts, silk shawls, weaved handy-crafts, semi-precious stones jewelry, Sterling Silver accessories and much, much more.

Rotarians came in big numbers from at least three Clubs from Pattaya and even from out-side Pattaya. I counted at least a dozen Present and Past Rotary Presidents with their partners and kids in tow. The Rotary Clubs of Eastern Seaboard, Marina and Jomtien had their own stand too.

Pattaya Mail Group was represented by Tony Malhotra together with his charming spouse and Paul Strachan. Khun Noi from the Diana Group who graciously offers her Diana Golfing Range for the event FOC was seen enjoying herself. Mike Franklin (the Father of the Mike Franklin Charity Golf Tournament) escaped from him Hospital Room, where he is undergoing treatment for a cancer ailment to give encouragement to the Organizers.

Not to forget are the “Jesters” themselves, for with this, their most important annual Charity Event came dressed in Bikers Regalia, their superlative Bikes auspiciously parked, lined up at the entrance of the fair ground. Any person, who took time to inspect them, could see for themselves, the love and pride devoted to these magnificent “two wheelers”.

Pattaya Mayor Ithipol, gave the event his recognition by touring the entire fair ground, stopping at great many stalls, showed a concentrated attention, he was seen briefly addressing individuals as he passed through the fair-ground to gain information and feelings on the success of the event.

In the evening there was a closing party organized by Kim Fletcher of Jameson’s fame where the Raffle/Auction generated substantially to the net available funds made possible by some very hard ground work by the committee led by Lewis “Woody” Underwood.

Thanks to some very generous, aggressive fund-raising skills many of desolate in the Pattaya community will enjoy a improved life in 2008/9.
